Trend Micro, dealing in network anti-virus and content security software and
services, announced the release of InterCloud Security Service, an advanced
solution for identifying botnet activity and offering customers the ability to
quarantine and optionally clean bot-infected PCs.
A Trend Micro statement said that InterCloud Security Service customers also
receive access to a service delivery platform that provides timely threat
intelligence and security updates from Trend Micro's Bot Identification Team.
Additionally, a web-based management portal provides administrators with a
holistic view of network bot activity and enables centralized management of
policies and updates as well as customizable reports on recent violations of
policies.
Talking about the new release in India, Niraj Kaushik, Country Manager, Trend
Micro India and SAARC said, "Today sophisticated botnets have given their
owners absolute power over compromised machines, putting them in a position to
launch distributed denial of service attacks, distribute malware, send spam, use
compromised systems to store illegal files or information, or use them for any
other illegal activity that the botnet owner desires. This can pose as an
enormous risk to Indian enterprise including loss of intellectual capital, loss
of confidence and credibility among customers, investors and partners, spam
attacks, phishing and storage of illegal or stolen files on compromised systems.
What is needed to fight this menace is a solution that immunises not only
individual computers but also the entire network."
