Trend Micro is re-launching its TVSP (Trend Value-add Security Partner) Program, closely on the heels of its launch of
PC-Cillin 2003. Under this program, Trend Micro intends bringing a broader base of partners under its
fold to sell its security products. "In its previous version of TVSP program, we were able to rope in about 200 partners. In its changed avatar,
we are looking at increasing this base to 500," informs Ajit Pillai, Channel Manager, Overseas Business Unit, Trend Micro.
He informs that Trend Micro is now looking beyond pure software resellers for selling its security products. "We would be
adding many systems integrators as TVSPs as they have the necessary reach and relationship to
market software solutions/services to address security needs of SMEs," adds Ajit. By broadening the partner base, Trend Micro aims to garner
bigger marketshares for its products like: InterScan, ScanMail and ServerProtect.Â
"These are not box products and require a great amount of value-add from partners in terms of service. The TVSP program is
designed to ensure that partners are scaled up appropriately to be able to offer value-addition on
the products," remarks Ajit.
Trend Micro has also launched couple of other schemes. There's one in which a partner gets a 10% discount on the list price of products, in addition to
his margins and irrespective of his sales price. These discounts are then accumulated and partners can redeem any of Trend Micro product in lieu of
this discount. There's also another scheme offering nearly 35% discount to end-users on purchase of PC-Cillin 2003.Â
