Triangle Technologies is one among the early birds in Bangalore’s IT reselling business. Started in 1988 with an initial investment of Rs 50,000, it posted revenues of Rs 3 crore in FY 2000-01 and 2001-02.

R
Sridhar

R Sridhar, the founder of Triangle Technologies, attributes this success to its practice of honoring commitments and looking beyond mere profits. “We focus on providing service and support, rather than chasing competition in the volume business,” says Sridhar.

STARTING ON THE RIGHT NOTE

A mechanical engineering graduate, Sridhar’s first brush with IT was when he joined Kirloskar Electric as a machine program engineer. It was here that he learnt the ropes of the servicing industry and acquainted himself with several IT vendors.

But soon he decided to start his own company where he had the liberty to take his won decisions.

He dabbled in the plastic molding business in 1985, but shut it down, as the returns did not match his expectations. He then went on to start Triangle Technologies, in 1998 with an investment of Rs 50,000. He tied up with PCL Industries to resell its range of electronic typewriters and electrical components. Later, when PCL decided to enter the UPS market in India, Triangle Technologies was chosen to be the preferred partner to distribute its new range.

Sridhar also plans to venture into the BPO world, with the launch of a vendor independent help-desk and technical support center in
Bangalore.

While he is not busy running his business, Sridhar can be found sorting out channel problems in his capacity as Secretary for the city’s Association of Information Technology.
