Residents are advised to go online and order a PVC Card by paying the minimal charges, or keep a print of the E-Aadhar card on paper if desired. Both shall be valid.

This information became apparent on Twitter, where the Aadhar Help Centre responded to a resident by saying that Aadhar Reprint Service has been discontinued.

Important for IT MSMEs

This development is very important for the IT MSMEs, as they are required to get an Udyam certificate by registering their organisation on Udyam website and UIDAI number is mandatory to get an Udyam certificate. Besides, in many business procedures they have to show their Aadhar card, which has to be kept updated.

Impact on Value Added IT Service Providers

Earlier people could reprint their Aadhat card and get it laminated. Many photocopiers, who also provided laptop repair services provided Aadhar reprint and lamination services and this was a flourishing business for them. Now by discontinuing this services, these Value Added Service Providers will lose this income and will have to shift to making fresh fresh negotiations with the UIDAI to provide PVC UIDAI card to their customers. However, since PVC card can be obtained online, many people can go online directly and get a PVC card.

With the changing ecosystem, Value Added Service Providers have to think of new ways of doing business.

It is clear that the government wants to continuously upgrade its operations and functionality and the older means of doing business are no longer going to be effective. Especially those who are at the lower end of the IT business spectrum, have to continuously upgrade themselves and be in line with the changing technology landscape.
