Union Budget 2014: Govt to be more focused on education sector

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has rolled out the Union budget for 2014-2015 today as millions of hopeful students wait with high expectations from Modi government.

Jaitley says that people have voted for a change and India desires to grow. He announced 'Beti padhao, beti badhao yojana', sets aside Rs 100 crore for this.

Jaitley has proposed to set up four more IIMS in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Vidarbha in Maharashtra and Purvanchal. Rs 500 crore has been allocated for it. Centre for Higher Studies will be established for dental courses.

12 more government medical colleges will be built across India with additional dental facilities. Five more IITs and five more IIMs have also been proposed.

FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata will be given the status of ‘Institutes of National Importance’. Lok Nayak National Centre for Higher Education and Madan Mohan Malviya Scheme for Teacher Training will also be established.
