VENKTRON DIGITAL SYSTEMS: A promising entry

The company swam through the last two decades of trading and importing
activities to achieve the present recognition and reputation that it has in the
market. It is currently all set to expand its geographical presence by adding
more number of branches across the country

Venktron Digital Systems is one of the newest members in the DQ Channels
Silver Club. From being a low-profiled channel partners for the last two
decades, Venktron has come into the limelight with its appointment as the
distributor for Western Digital for the western region.

The company reported an agency revenue of Rs 81 crore, which is an increase
of 16 percent over its previous year's revenue of Rs 70 crore. Under the firm
leadership of Ajay Singhania, the company swam through the last two decades of
trading and importing activities to achieve the present recognition and
reputation that it has in the market.

A major part of the company's business comes from the western region,
however, it has entrenched it presence in the south as well. West contributes
around 49 percent of their business, with south around 32 percent and the north
with 19 percent. The company does not have a presence in the east part of the
country.

The company has in the past been an importer and trader for many IT products
with a lot of focus on Seagate as a brand. Venktron is one of the largest
importers of Seagate hard disk drives in India, for which they have been
receiving the prestigious Best Import Partner award from ACI Singapore. The
company currently deals in almost all PC peripherals and components including
hard disk drives from Seagate, Samsung, Maxtor and WD; processors, motherboards
and servers from Intel. Apart from these, it also deals in optical drives,
monitors, FDDs, flash drives and many other computer peripherals.

Official collaborations include sub-distributor of Seagate for HDDs, and
distributors of Western Digital for HDDs. The company is also the VIP partner of
Maxtor.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the company has made its presence in New Delhi,
Bangalore and Secunderabad. During 2005-06, it also opened offices in Ahmedabad,
Nagpur and Indore. It had an employee strength of 50 in the year 2004-05 which
was increased to 72 in 2005-06. The plan is to further scale this number to 115
in the current fiscal.

The company's future plans include a major expansion of its geographical
presence by adding more number of branches across the country.
