VERITAS Software Corporation announced that it is now shipping Veritas Storage Reporter, a Storage Resource
Management (SRM) tool that provides a more detailed view into enterprise storage
usage. This newly available product gives IT managers more control over storage management and its associated costs, including the ability to
"charge back" individual departments for storage use.
Last month, Veritas Software announced the acquisition of NTP Software's Storage Reporter as part of
VERITAS' expanded SRM strategy to reduce storage costs and complexity. The reporting capabilities of Veritas Storage Reporter
complement Veritas SANPoint Control, a single console software solution that delivers simplified management and automated
provisioning of storage in mixed vendor environments.
VERITAS Storage Reporter allows IT organizations to track and plan storage usage by users, departments, applications file
types or geography. By tracking these storage usage categories at the file level, Veritas Storage
Reporter helps CIOs to better predict future storage growth patterns and provides them with the ability to charge-back storage costs, creating
accountability for ever-growing storage needs. Veritas Storage Reporter is available as a stand-alone offering now, and will be integrated
into Veritas SANPoint Control by mid-2003.
