Version 9 of CA’s BrightStor ARCserve Backup

Computer Associates has announced the availability of version
9 of BrightStor ARCserver Backup, a data protection system.

The
latest version of this software allows customers to plug in separately offered
options and agents to develop a fully customized, distributed solution for an
environment, regardless of platform.

BrightStor ARCserve Backup offers centralized, cross-platform
management, centralized database, intelligent alert notification and multiple
backup choices. It also incorporates backup, restore, job status and device
management wizards and comes with a calendar-based scheduling. The software has
a context-sensitive on-line error message help. It offers backup to disk
scalability, supports CDRW and DVDRW drives and provides with command line
interface too.

Among other new features are multiple NIC support and NAS
option network data management protocol. The version 9 carries features from its
previous versions including: multiple database support, library filters,
parallel streaming, media spanning, intelligent data compression, remote server
backup and restore support, Unicenter integration, data encryption, integrated
virus scanning and cure, local and remote Windows disaster recovery.
