Western Digital, a hard drive manufacturer, announced that it would increase
warranty periods on its range of external storage products. The My Book
Essential, My Book Premium, My Book Premium II and WD Passport products will
have three-year limited warranties as compared to the earlier one-year limited
warranties. The My Book Pro and My Book Pro II will have a five-year limited
warranty as compared to the earlier three-year limited warranty.

The new limited warranty policy will be effective beginning March 01, 2007,
and will be valid on purchases made through authorized WD distributors. The
limited warranty will be a standard feature on these drives, requiring no
upgrade or documentation by customers. Details regarding the limited warranty
can be found at http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp.

With the introduction of these warranty extensions, WD claims to be the first
hard drive manufacturer to offer such warranty policies on its external storage
products in India. Currently, all WD internal drives carry a standard five-year
limited warranty in India.

the best service, support and value for money. This warranty extension is a move
in this direction and we expect to generate tremendous demand for our external
storage products through it.”
