Western Digital launches enterprise SATA drive

Western Digital has announced the launch of WD Raptor 74 GB, which is a
10,000 RPM SATA drive that targets the enterprise segment. The drive matches
SCSI reliability and performance while providing simplified connectivity - all
at significantly less cost than parallel SCSI drives.

The drive feature 10,000-RPM rotational disk speed, 4.5 ms average data seek
time, 1.2 million hour MTBF at 100% duty cycle, rugged, enterprise-class
mechanical platform with high-end bearings and actuator and five-year warranty.

The drive can be applied in department and mid-range servers, DAS, NAS and
SAN applications and workstations and high-end PCs running I/O intensive
CAD/CAM, Pro Audio, Pro Video, finance, business and game applications. It is
priced at Rs 13,000, exclusive of local taxes.
