Wipro Infotech dons system integrator role

Wipro Infotech will don the role of system Integrator for Kerala-based
Catholic Syrian Bank in the latter's attempt to use technology more efficiently
and implement the art of core banking solutions across the country.

According to K.S Viswanathan, Chief Executive, Strategic Sales and Product
business, Wipro Infotech, "We have been focusing on the banking industry
for over two decades, which gives us the potential to understand the challenges
and opportunities faced by our customers. Any investment made in the technology
will help in enhancing the business. It is always boon for a customer to use a
high end and emerging technologies. When technical and business leverage each
other then they are going to have an efficient and great run."

Earlier Catholic Syrian Bank has tied up with Chennai based software company
Lasersoft Infotech Ltd, for developing the Core banking software solution. Cisco
would be supporting the venture through their network and communication support.
Speaking on Cisco's support to this project Anil Bhasin, VP, Enterprise, Cisco
India, said, "Technology in today's competitive scenario becomes a key
business differentiator and a secure and resilient infrastructure will help the
bank to roll out new banking products and services for their customers in a
quick and efficient manner. We are privileged to provide services to such a
project."

Speaking on the selection of Wipro as their system integrator R.Venkataraman,
Chairman of Catholic Syrian bank said, "We choose Wipro Infotech as our
system integrator for providing WAN and Data Center Integration, which are
essential in core banking solutions. We also expect a good support from BSNL and
VSNL who are providing connectivity and data center facility for the venture,
which is a backbone of core banking facility."
