You Telecom, India, providers of broadband internet has appointed Delhi-based
SD Computers as their distributor in South India. The distributor was appointed
in the month of October.
With this tie-up the SD Computers will provide VoIP, bandwidth management and
other broadband services to the end-customers in co-ordination with partners.
Confirming the same, Harsh Vij, Director SD Computers, said, "We have
considerable number of partners in the south and will be looking for tie-up with
partners who want to venture into something new and at the same time provide
quality services apart from earning profits."
Providing the hardware would be another area where the distributor might
either take third party help or engage You Telecom for providing products.
The distributor will be targeting the SMEs, small call centers and customers who
require VoIP and other broadband services to run their business and communicate
on a recurring basis.
Vij further added that in order to provide the best of the services they
would seek partners who have skilled manpower. "In most cases the technical
jargons used by the professionals are not understood by the end customer and
hence we will ensure that we impart the right kind of training to the manpower
at the partner's end because providing quality services, is the key to achieving
customer confidence," he reiterated.
Talking about the challenges Vij clarified that the though it was a
relatively new field for SD Computers the distributor will expand its foothold
through their partners which will be no more than five in number. "The
broadband market is huge and there is scope for every player in it. But
targeting the right vertical would be a major challenge," he opined.
In addition to this there exists a market where certain players are providing
DID (Direct Inward Dialing) which is another area of concern. Explaining about
the same, he said that through this process a virtual phone number is assigned
to the user. For example, when a user from India travels to a foreign country,
he can use this virtual number to make local calls as and when required. Thus
the number can be misused to make local calls in another country. He elaborated
that this practice has been prohibited by the Government of India and is
considered illegal, as it involves a whole lot of security issues. To cope with
this challenge they would make efforts to educate end-customers and train
partners as well.
In addition to this, SD Computers will also provide specialized wireless
products like SIP phones (Session Initiative phones) to customers such as
executive travelers and others who need to travel on a recurring basis and yet
stay in touch.
For this purpose, the distributor has identified 2-3 vendors from Germany
from where they would import the phone and then sell it to such customers in
addition to providing broadband services. With the Wi-Fi SIP phone all a caller
needs to do is be in a Wi-Fi zone and then he/she can make calls from anywhere,
which provides immense scope for mobility.
