In order to strongly compete with the pricing offered by various
Taiwanese
brands for 8- and 16-port switches, Compex has decided to make
'suitable
adjustments' in its prices for the same products. A relatively new
entrant
into the Indian networking space, Compex is also planning to launch a
number
of new products both in wired and wireless domain, shortly.
Explaining the rationale behind the proposed price adjustment,
Lawrence
Wee,
Regional Sales Manager, Asia Pacific, Compex Systems, says, "There is
a
huge
market which still opts for 8- and 16-port switches. But number of
Taiwanese
brands have captured this market owing to their low prices. We want
to
make
a dent to their share by making our price equally competitive."
While declining to mention how much the price drop would exactly be,
Lawrence adds that the idea behind this adjustment is also to bridge
the
price gap between hubs and switches. "A good amount of customers
still go
for hubs as they are cheaper than switches. We want these users to
make a
transition to switches by bringing down our prices considerably,"
informs
Lawrence. Currently an 8-port Compex switch is priced at around Rs
2,300,
while the 16-port switch comes at around Rs 6,000.
Lawrence also informed that the company would soon be making
additions to
its current range of networking products in the country. "Indian
market
would see parallel broadband-based networking products being rolled
out in
the near future," says he. Lawrence also adds that once the licenses
are
cleared by the government authorities in the country, Compex will
unveil a
large range of wireless products too.
