HCL Infosystems announced a tie-up with Tech Pacific for the distribution of
the entire range of Toshiba mobile computing products. With the tie-up, Tech Pac
will add Toshiba laptops, handhelds and the tablet PC to its portfolio.
HCL Infosystems, before bringing Tech Pac on board handled all partner
relationships directly. With Tech Pac in the picture, partner-handling will
happen through it. HCL will however continue to engage in its direct sales
activity. Says Jyotin Verma, Country Head, Marketing, HCL Infosystems, "All
our partners selling mobile products will be re-aligned along this new tie
up."
Tech Pac will bring to the table a strong upcountry penetration. Says Sanjay
Mittal, VP, Tech Pacific, "We will open up a channel base, create a greater
audience for HCL across all markets." The company already distributes
mobile computing devices from other vendors and is looking at replicating the
same model for Toshiba products. Tech Pacific will dedicate a workforce for the
same.
Tech Pacific officials feel that with Toshiba now a part of its portfolio,
its partner sales will get augmented and dismissed claims of any clash of
interests with partners already selling other mobile devices. "Partners
don´t have exclusive tie-ups anymore and this will enable to offer holistic
solutions," add Jyotin.
Tech Pacific brings at least 150 new partners that sell mobile devices on a
regular basis. And with this addition, HCL officials expect a 100 percent growth
quarter on quarter.
The occasion also marked the launch of Toshiba´s latest pocket PC, the e330.
Running on the 300 MHz Intel StrongARM processor, the new device comes with 64
MB SDRAM.
