Among the myriad features of the ThinkBook 14+, a standout is the inclusion of an Optical-Copper Link (OCulink) port. This distinctive port signifies the laptop's capacity for a transformative upgrade, allowing the integration of dedicated desktop graphics through a compatible adapter. With OCulink, its presence elevates the ThinkBook 14+'s versatility, providing users the option to enhance their graphics performance substantially. This feature underscores Lenovo's commitment to empowering users with the flexibility to adapt and augment their computing experience, positioning the ThinkBook 14+ as a compelling choice for those seeking customizable and high-performance computing solutions.

Opting for an OCulink connection proves superior to Thunderbolt, offering both increased speed and cost-effectiveness, rendering it a more advantageous choice for EGPU products.

Products such as OSMETA GK01 or GPD G1 equipped with RX 7600M highlight the efficiency of OCulink for external laptop graphics. In comparison to Thunderbolt, OCulink proves superior due to its utilization of the PCIe interface, exhibiting enhanced performance when evaluating the bottleneck caused by OCulink and Thunderbolt. The distinct advantage lies in the optimized functionality of OCulink, particularly notable in the context of external laptop graphics, positioning it as a superior choice for users seeking improved throughput and minimized performance constraints in graphics-intensive applications.

Professionals have tested an M.2 to OCulink port EGPU adaptor with an HP-based AMD laptop and had extremely good results when paired with both GTX 1080 Ti & RTX 3070 Ti. It is great to see this port appear in a dedicated manner, on an upcoming laptop of Lenovo.

Various images of this upcoming Lenovo ThinkBook 14+ (2024) laptop were also shared on Zhizhu. It has been revealed here that this laptop will come with at least an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor. But for now, it is unconfirmed if the more powerful Core Ultra 9 CPU will also be available. Of course, you can see the Oculink port here as marked.

Concerning the additional specifications upgrade, the latest Intel Core Ultra CPUs operate on the advanced Meteor Lake architecture. The new generation of Intel processors boasts numerous enhancements, featuring an upgraded Intel 4 manufacturing process, the inclusion of Intel Arc Graphics, a novel NPU Chip designed for on-device AI processing, and various other improvements.
