New Update

Liberate Technologies, a leading provider of software for the delivery of enhanced television content, and National Semiconductor, a leading provider of innovative silicon solutions for the information age, have announced a global platform partnership to reduce costs for set-top box manufacturers and network operators.

At the core of the agreement, Liberate and National Semiconductor will pre-integrate the Liberate TV Platform and the National Geode family of microprocessors. This strategic effort will reduce time-to-market for the set-top boxes that network operators choose, and assure a superior level of performance for the combined semiconductor and software platform solution. Additionally, Liberate and National will continue to consult and coordinate as new products hit the market.

National Semiconductor will license Liberate TV Porter, the client software porting kit designed for set-top box and semiconductor manufacturers, which National will apply to its Geode family of processors. Liberate TV Porter provides the necessary tools to test and implement Liberate TV Navigator client software for any set-top box platform, and contains the critical elements to the platform independent of the Liberate TV Platform software.
