Vercos is specialised in ML, aerial robotics, control system, robotics sensor tech, and autopilots began as a small student group working on drones from the IIT Delhi campus, where its first aerial robot was developed. Rajeshree, cofounder and CTO, Vercos talked about herself in the Women Power column in DQ Channels. 

The challenges of being a woman executive in a top role

There are several challenges of being a woman when you are in the executive role. If you are strong and confident, it is often seen as competent. And if you are soft, you are likeable but not competent. The perception bias of women in leadership could affect the organization and others as well.

Educational Background

I have done BTech from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (NIT Nagpur) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Family Background

Coming to my personal background, including me, I belong to a family of 5 members, with my father working as a shopkeeper and my mother being a housemaker. I have two younger brothers to take care of which has helped me to learn about responsibility and teamwork.

Working in the Male-dominated field of IT.  Does a Glass ceiling exist?

Despite decades of progress toward gender equality in the workplace, women continue to be grossly underrepresented in the technology sector. But recently in India, there has been a lot of progress towards bringing women to the forefront of the technology world. Through various camps, competitions, seminars and workshops, women are encouraged to enter this sector. Yes, the glass ceiling exists, but there is hope too. Getting the best at what you do and culminating in the leadership, and teamwork qualities can make you stand among others.

Hobbies

In my free time, I like to draw paintings and make art which liberates me from all the stress and explore creativity in-depth.  Other than this, I like to read books and solve puzzles.

Future plans

I am passionate roboticist. My plan is to take VECROS to incredible heights through the innovative technology we are building. We want to increase productivity and eliminate all the hassle in inspections, and we are fastly moving towards it.
