Sony launches world’s first dual DVD writer

Sony Electronics has introduced an unique Digital Video Disc (DVD) writer,

which is the first in the world to support dual standards. The DVD writer can

supports DVD +R/RW and DVD ­R/RW technology.

According to the company, the writer has high speed capabilities and is ideal

for the corporates, professional, small office as well as home users for their

ever-growing storage needs. It is priced at around Rs 27,000 and is compatible

with both Windows and Macintosh operating system.

to Ron Low, Regional Account Manager, Sony Electronics - Singapore, the DVD

writer is targeted at the rapidly growing value PC segment. "There is an

enormous potential for rapid growth in the Indian market," says he.

Sony has a marketing tie up with Mumbai-based Rashi Peripherals for marketing

display and storage products in India. During the launch of the product, Suresh

Pansari, MD, Rashi Peripherals, announced that Rashi has planned to increase the

number of Sony authorized partners (SAP) from 30 to 50 by the end of the current

year.

Rajesh Goenka, Divisional Head - Rashi Peripherals, says, "The launch of

technology."
