The next major version of the uTorrent client will work in a user's browser, said Bram Cohen, the creator of the BitTorrent protocol.

"The plan is to consolidate the business, focus on revenues. We are also taking up the opportunity to clean up our client experience," Cohen said.

"We're very, very sensitive. We know people have been using uTorrent for a very long time and love it. So we're very, very sensitive to that and gonna be sure to make sure that people feel that it's an upgrade that's happening. Not that we've just destroyed the experience," Cohen was quoted as saying in the report.

Users will not have to install separate browser applications to get this experience but will get it from their existing browsers.

However, it seems that the company realises that pushing out such a major change to the torrent client can easily back-fire if users do not react to it positively. This is why the transition to browser will be pushed out widely only after gaining feedback from users.

We will have to wait and see how the new version of the uTorrent client shapes up and is received by the users when it will be rolled out widely by the company.
