StarSuite makes inroads in Hong Kong schools

Sun Microsystems is partnering with Hong Kong Education City (EdCity) to

install StarSuite 6.0, Sun’s office productivity software suite, on every

desktop and notebook computer in every school in the territory. This deployment

will be covered under a cost-free license for StarSuite that Sun is donating to

schools through the Hong Kong Education City project operated by the Education

Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

EdCity is a government-funded project that promotes quality education and IT

culture for lifelong learning. It operates the education portal (http://www.hkedcity.net)

in Hong Kong with more than 1.5 million page views a day from over 6,00,000

teachers, students and parents.

EdCity will take responsibility for providing front-line support for users of

StarSuite throughout the SAR’s 2,400 schools and evangelize educational

applications of the software through building up an online and offline community

of StarSuite users.
