Airtel launches superior 3G services in Kolkata

Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of Airtel Platinum 3G in Kolkata, at Taj Bengal. As per Airtel spokesperson, Ravindra Singh Negi, CEO-West Bengal and Odisha, Bharti Airtel, this is the best 3G experience available in India. The launch of Platinum 3G was decided after Airtel won the 900MHz spectrum band in September 2013. The technology behind 3G platinum is named as u900, after 900 MHz. Earlier last month, the company had announced India’s first 3G Platinum rollout starting with Mumbai.

The launch is a first step towards better indoor coverage, voice clarity and high speed internet along with extended battery life. Kolkata Airtel cutomers can browse the Internet 122% faster than any other 3G network, get 36% better indoor coverage and stream video 144% faster than the existing speed. The tariffs remain same as the existing 3G tariffs and no extra charge is needed to avail superior connectivity.  Looks like, Airtel will listen to no excuse from customers unwilling to upgrade their existing 3G services to Platinum 3G.

Till date, Airtel has over 40L subscribers in Kolkata and 16 mn nationally and is the only network that works on the Platinum band and provides seamless connectivity and superior indoor coverage to such a large base.
